AutoCAD Drafter (Coop)

In your role as a Co-op AutoCAD Drafter reporting directly to the Senior AutoCAD drafter, you will follow detailed and sometimes complex instructions to create or modify a drawing.

You will assist the team in working indirectly with the client to provide the information and quotes requested. You will also work closely with the Project Coordinator and other internal stakeholders while interacting regularly with contractors, suppliers and all other project partners. You will be surrounded with an excellent team that is rallying for your success.

 

Practically speaking, here's what you'll do on a day-to-day basis… 

  • Create shop drawings and tickets for architectural cut stone as required, based on project specs and drawings.
  • Provide and assist Production Shop with required documents, creating profiled templates and CNC programs.
  • Assist in the quotation process of doing take-offs from customer supplied PDF architectural drawings.
  • Supply customers with a bill of material, pricing and PDF drawing layout.
  • Assist in on-site construction visitation to discuss take-off, drawing layouts and measurement confirmation according to customers satisfaction.
  • Ensure projects are completed in compliance with Select Stone Supply policies and procedures, meeting any applicable laws and regulations.
  • Take direction and implement into drawings and calculations to produce the final work, producing plans and technical details.
  • Other duties as assigned.

You are currently enrolled in an Architectural Technician/Drafter program in an Ontario college or University. You have both been taught and used AutoCAD and can work independently in this program. Maybe you have some experience in the landscaping or building field and are looking for professional office experience. Or perhaps you will graduate in 2023 and you are searching for new experience within your chosen career path. Wherever you came from, you’ll be a great fit if you possess the following characteristics:

This is a full-time summer student position ideally suited for a student or recent graduate intent on gaining experience in AutoCAD. Typically, you’ll work Monday to Friday from 7:00 am-5:00 pm. As a member of our team, you’ll enjoy:

Qualifications...

  • Currently enrolled in a College Diploma/University Degree in Architectural Technician, Landscape Architect or a related field
  • Competent in AutoCAD, Mastercam, Adobe Acrobat, Excel, Word Perfect
  • A background knowledge in CNC Programming for Stone Bridge Saw & CNC Machine using Mastercam X Software would be an asset
  • Software Knowledge required to manipulate and interpret 2D and 3D drawings from AutoCAD to Mastercam Software
  • Capable of utilizing precision measuring instruments such as calipers, measuring tape
